Things are finally calming down around here. Memorial Day weekend we went to Virginia Beach to see my grandson Gabriel make his First Holy Communion. We had only been back a couple of days when the car broke down, the central air-conditioning in the house quit during the first heat wave, and the front bay window was broken. When it rains it pours. The good news is we now have a new car, new air-conditioning, and the window replaced.
Gabe is also spending the summer with us and we've been enjoying many summer activities. We're planning an educational weekend trip to Philadelphia, which we're both looking forward to.
As much as he enjoys his video games, he loves reading and discussing the books he's read just as much. He's also quite a wiz on the computer and has taught me some tricks. I've been managing to get some work done even with an active seven year old in the house. Hopefully, by the end of the year I'll have a new book completed.
I wouldn't trade my time with Gabe for anything in the world, though. Enjoying the simple pleasures I've been taking for granted puts things into perspective when I look at them through his eyes.
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.
