A Little Kindness

I've noticed lately, at least in my neck of the woods, that people seem to be less friendly than they once were. Maybe it's the economy, unemployment situation, or any number of other things. Everyone I know is under more stress than normal, but does that mean we have to become rude to those we encounter?

Does it hurt to show some kindness and let someone with a few items go ahead of you in the grocery line instead of waiting for you to empty your overflowing cart? Does it hurt to let a car in front of you when you are stuck in traffic anyway? Even if I don't always receive a thank you for my small acts of kindness, it makes me feel good inside.

Sometimes just a friendly smile can make a world of difference to someone having a bad day. I'll still be kind to those around me even when my day isn't at its best because I'm a firm believer in Karma.

Spring Is Here!

Well, that's what the calendar says anyway. It was a chilly rainy day. Felt more like autumn than spring. The kind of day that makes me think will warm weather ever really arrive after the long cold winter? Of course, looking outside at all the yard work to take care of makes me happy that I can put that chore off for just a little longer. So, I'll grab another cup of coffee while my muse pushes me to finish my collection of short stories.

Happy Valentine's Day!

At last some warmer temperatures! Spring is in the air...at least I hope it is. I plan to spend Valentine's Day finishing up a new very romantic short story.

Computer Crash!

A couple of weeks ago, out of nowhere, I got a nasty virus in my laptop. I did a virus scan and cleaned up the computer, then ran another scan just to be safe. All seemed well, so I went back to my WIP.

I have a desktop in my office, which I work on during the day. At night I work on the laptop and transfer those files to my desktop so they'll be ready for me in the morning. Well, that night I was tired and neglected to transfer the files. You can guess what I found the next morning when I turned on the laptop to transfer the files. After spending several hours trying to get the computer to boot, I realized it was a lost cause.

A few days later I was able to retrieve most of my files from the hard drive. I held my breath as I looked through the files and was thrilled when I saw that all of my manuscripts and important documents were intact.

Now I'm breaking in a brand new laptop. It takes a lot of getting used to for me. I spend so much time on my computer that it's difficult to get used to a new one. So far so good, though. But I do miss my old one. And I make it a point to backup my files daily!
