Excerpt Wednesday - The Adventures Of Angel – Angel's Band

"Butterfly's going to tell us how music is made," Angel eagerly said.

Piddy joined the circle.

"Uh hem." Butterfly cleared her throat. "An instrument is anything that makes a pleasant sound. Let me see." She flew around the barn, finally lighting on an old turned upside down tin cup. "Angel, tap on this."

Angel hopped over to the tin cup. She placed her hands on top and gently tapped on it.

"No, no, no," Butterfly said, flying around her in circles. "You must tap it harder."

Angel brought her hands down harder. "It doesn't sound very good, Butterfly. In fact it sounds awful!"

The others agreed.

Butterfly flew once again around the barn, finally sitting down next to an old wooden spoon. "Use this," she said.

Angel grabbed the wooden spoon and tapped lightly on the tin cup. She excitedly hopped up and down. "I made music!" she exclaimed.

Excerpt Wednesday - The Adventures Of Angel – Angel's New Friends

"What are you doing in the forest?" Lou asked.

"I'm looking for some friends to play with." She looked around herself. "Where's everybody?"

Lou stretched. "Sleeping. That's all everybody does, is sleep."

"Want to play tag, Lou?" Angel asked.

"Sure, but you're it," he growled, tapping her on the head.

They laughed and frolicked for over an hour and ran deeper into the forest.

Excerpt Wednesday – Broken Promises: A New Beginning

Hours later Farrel lay in the king-sized bed she shared with her husband. She desperately wanted to fall into a deep sleep, then wake up and be assured her life was just a bad dream. The hell she was living couldn't be real because so much of her had died. Slowly over the years parts of her had passed away, victim of a long painful death. She had been
so unaware of it until one day she didn't know herself anymore. The smile and forced happiness that she showed to the world were just masks covering the person she'd become.

Her mind screamed to turn back time, but she knew that it was too late. She could never bring back the happy, fun-loving person she had once been. The past four years had murdered that person and she knew she could not raise herself from the dead. She was mentally defeated.

Christine stared at the truck parked near the entrance of the cemetery gates as she got into her car. She couldn't identify the figure casually leaning against the vehicle. He was watching her. He wore a cap with the bill slanted in a downward position, which concealed his face. She'd noticed the truck on a few previous visits, but no one had ever been outside of it. Why was today different? She was the only visitor here in the isolated cemetery. She'd been alone the other times the truck had shown up, too. When others were in the cemetery tending to the graves of their loved ones, the truck never appeared. At first, she thought it was her imagination, but now she realized that whoever it was, was definitely watching her. A shiver ran up her spine and she quickly locked her car doors and started the engine.

Excerpt Wednesday – The Stalker

She started to back away from his desk, but he clamped his icy fingers around her wrist. "Let go of me," she cried. He loosened his grip but wouldn't completely relinquish his hold on her. "Jeremy, I am not your girlfriend. You've conjured something up in your head that's not real."

"Excuse me?" His eyes flashed.

"Those letters were almost pornographic."

"Those letters spoke the truth."

"No," she said hoarsely. "They were sick and demented. I wouldn't do those things with anyone!"

He laughed. "No, I know what you really want. Girls always want the same thing. I was being romantic by telling you how I would fulfill every desire and fantasy you possess."

Her eyes widened. "My God, Jeremy, that's not romance."

He grinned. "I guess you've never dated a real man before. I only want you to know what to expect our first time."

She yanked her wrist free. "There's never going to be a first time! I was only friendly with you because I felt sorry for you, but I don't anymore," she said. "Stay away from me, Jeremy Talbot!"

He watched as students slowly began filing into the room. "Never, Julie, you're my girl," he whispered.

She was trembling as she took her seat, his words sticking in her mind.

Excerpt Wednesday – Over The Edge

He'd never intended to get involved with Chelsea. He wasn't even attracted to her, but one night after he'd finished putting up some bookshelves for her, she'd handed him a cold beer and asked his advice on a personal matter. She was just a kid to him, and he'd only wanted to offer her guidance as a father would to his daughter.

As they talked, she kept supplying the beer and he kept drinking it. She seductively crossed her long slender legs several times as they conversed, and his eyes couldn't help but travel up to her hemline, which showed her young tender thighs. Now looking back, he realized that he was being set up. She'd charmed him and made him feel twenty again, complimenting him on all the areas his male ego loved, inflating him until he was ready for the kill. She'd made him briefly forget that Maggie was the only woman he wanted and loved.

He was sick to his very core afterward. There was no excuse for what he'd done, and there was no changing that fact. After their one-night stand, he tried avoiding Chelsea, but she began showing up in the places she knew he'd be. She was a close friend of Janna Evans, and even though Chris had nothing personal against Janna, he couldn't stand her husband Brant. He'd known Brant ever since Brant was a young boy and Chris had been hired to do some remodeling on the Evans' home. During his breaks, Brant would sit asking all kinds of questions. As Chris worked that summer, he thought it odd that Brant had few playmates, but in time, even at such a young age, Brant's nastiness showed through in the way he treated the few boys who came around. He was a selfish, self-centered boy, and as Chris's work on the Evans' home came to an end, Chris realized why the boy was avoided like the plague.

Since that time, Brant had considered Chris a friend and occasionally invited him to social functions. Chris only attended knowing it was better to have Brant for a friend rather than an enemy. Brant's reputation was well known, and his malevolence came full circle when he joined the police department. It didn't take him long to infiltrate his self-absorbed power with a few of his coworkers who secretly shared his wickedness but had been uncertain how to put it to use. That was until Brant Evans came along.

Chris recalled the conversation he'd recently had with Brant when Brant had unexpectedly shown up at his apartment.

"We need to talk, Jacoby."

Chris eyed him suspiciously knowing from the way he held himself erect and the squaring of his jaw that Brant wasn't in the mood for games. But then, Brant Evans didn't possess even the remotest sense of humor as far as Chris was concerned. "What can I do for you, Brant?"

"You know that my wife and Chelsea are best friends."

He nodded. "I'm aware of that."

Brant leaned against the doorjamb. "It seems we have a problem." He thoughtfully pulled on his chin.

Chris shrugged his shoulders and frowned. "I don't know what you're talking about. Is there something I can help you with?"

Brant laughed. "Get off it, Chris. For God's sake, you don't just fuck a young beauty like Chelsea Howard and walk away. What the hell's the matter with you?"

Chris ran his hand through his hair as the color drained from his face. "What happened between Chelsea and me was a big mistake. For Christ's sake, Brant, she's just a kid. It never should have happened." He emphatically shook his head back and forth wondering why she'd even mentioned that night. He supposed it was another sign of the times that he hated so much. Years ago a woman never would have mentioned the most intimate details of her sexual experiences to her friends. Or at least he'd always assumed that women were above the locker-room mentality of men. "I'll always regret it."

"But it did happen." He squared his shoulders.

New Excerpt Wednesday – The Stalker

Jeremy placed his hands over his ears, but the voices only grew louder. "Shut up!" he demanded. "Just shut the fuck up!" He squeezed his eyes shut as his mind became saturated with thoughts and images of Rebecca. The demons felt threatened, but they confused him repeatedly—one minute telling him to stand up for himself, and then taunting him when he did. He couldn't trust them most of the time, but he knew they'd never leave and it was useless to plead with them for release. They embedded themselves in his thought processes, sometimes doing things and then blaming him for it. They were as much a part of him as his legs and arms were. The few weeks of peace he'd had from them had given him false hope, and he felt a peacefulness he wasn't accustomed to. Now they were back and in full swing, stronger than before. He had to keep his guard up and watch them while trying in desperation to hide his real thoughts about Rebecca. She'll hurt you worse than Julie Howard ever did, they warned.

"Leave me alone! She's nothing like Julie." He pulled on a pair of jeans, his fingers trembling on the zipper. He felt the familiar bulge beginning to grow, but there was no time. He pulled on a pale blue T-shirt with the college logo emblazoned across the front of it, then grabbed his sneakers and slid his feet into them, tying them tightly. He studied his reflection in his bureau mirror and ran a comb through his tangled hair.

New Excerpt Wednesday – The Stalker

He nodded, mumbling a quick good-bye, then watched her walk away, her curvy hips slightly swaying and her long, reddish-blonde hair falling gently over her shoulders. He couldn't believe what had just transpired. He pulled out a handkerchief and mopped his forehead. Rebecca Walker had actually paid attention to him. She'd noticed him, and she'd taken the time to soothe him after his humiliation in class. Why would she do that? She had even touched him. He could still feel her hand on his shoulder burning through to his flesh. What did this all mean? Could it be possible? Could a woman like Rebecca Walker actually be attracted to him? Was she making a play for him? Had he missed the signals most guys were aware of? He had no friends to discuss this with, so he wasn't sure. Could he talk to his father about this wonderful event? His father was at work more than he was at home, and even if he were at home, Jeremy knew that dear old Dad would offer him no hope, instead brushing it aside as wishful thinking on Jeremy's part. Nevertheless, hope was all he had to cling to.

He could barely wait to get home. He needed to look up Rebecca in the student directory. Maybe he would get the courage to call her tonight and ask her out. Yes, that was what he would do. He smiled at his newfound self-confidence, but as quickly as it had come, it disappeared as the demons of doubt entered his thoughts. Why would Rebecca Walker want to go out with a loser like you? the demons shouted through the corridors of his mind, laughing and taunting him. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to get them out of his thoughts. No, he'd prove them wrong. She did want him.

Ed kissed her tenderly as his large hands roamed over her arms rubbing them softly. Kay caught his bottom lip between her lips teasing him as she unbuttoned his shirt. She ran her fingertips over his chest as her lips tugged more intently.

"Not so rough, baby," he whispered. He stood, took her hand, and pulled her up. "We need to continue this in the bedroom." He led her to their bed.

"Just once let's try something different, honey." She kissed him softly then kissed his neck before moving her mouth to his chest and flicking her tongue suggestively over his nipples. She found his belt and unbuckled it. He arched his back as she slowly slid his pants down his long muscular legs, pulling them off. She fondled him, but it didn't take long before he was fully aroused. He tore off his underwear.

"You'd better roll over," he whispered huskily as his arms reached for her.

"Not yet," she murmured. "I'm going to try something a little different tonight. You'll like this, baby." She moved her mouth to the tip of his penis. She heard his sharp intake of breath as she teased before slowly inserting the tip into her mouth.

New Excerpt Wednesday – Hidden Desires

After her hair was dry, she clicked off the hairdryer and set it on the counter. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply as she thought about her last one-night stand. Chas had the most intense eyes she'd ever seen and a wide, sensual mouth. She'd made eye contact with him all night and when he'd made his way over to the table where she and Debbie were enjoying their final drinks of the night, Debbie patted her on the shoulder and excused herself.

A soft moan escaped Heather's throat and her pussy became wet as images of Chas' long, hard cock thrusting in and out of her as her nails dug into his back, consumed her. She kept her eyes closed as she slipped a finger inside of her now-dripping pussy and rubbed her clit, quickly bringing herself to an orgasm.

Her hand trembled in his. Was she dreaming? Was she really with him all alone in the middle of nowhere? She was certain that she'd wake up any moment. He put a tender
hand on her shoulder. She smiled. No, this was real and she was here with him. Anything was possible tonight. "I'd love to stay."

"Good." He turned his head until he was staring into her eyes then bent his head tilting it down to hers.

Her breath momentarily caught in her throat as his lips touched hers sweetly at first, then with a hungry need. She responded to his need with her own. She put her arms around his neck, pressing into his body. She never wanted to let go. His firm lips clung to hers as his tongue found its way into her mouth. A soft moan escaped from her as his hands slowly caressed her back, then gently traveled to her chest where he expertly fondled her heaving breasts with his hands.

His mouth moved from hers and planted soft kisses on her neck and throat. "I want you so badly," he hoarsely whispered.

New Excerpt Wednesday – Broken Promises: A New Beginning

Farrel averted her eyes from Mary's. They seemed to look right into her very soul, right to all the hidden places no one could ever know about. "Robert has never hurt me." She glanced at her arm, now encased in a cast. "I'm clumsy, that's all."

Mary sighed. "Okay, I don't want to press you."

Farrel wondered if Mary could sense the fear within her. If she had once been in Farrel's shoes, then she must certainly know that Robert would deny any wrongdoing and her life would become even more unbearable than it was now.

Mary pulled a card from her pocket. "If you ever need to talk to someone, Jerry Feldon is a great guy. He's helped me through many rough times. And you can always call me." She smiled.

Farrel reluctantly took the card. "Thank you, but I really don't think I'll be needing it."

Mary patted her shoulder. "Just in case," she said softly. "Just in case."

She shook her head. "No. I've got some ideas."

Kay propped her elbows on the table. "Can I ask you a personal question?"

Tyler laughed. "Since when have you needed my permission to ask? Ever since I've known you, you've just plowed right in."

Kay slowly let her breath out. "Are you attracted to Ed? Is that why—"

"Of course not! I mean he's good looking, but I definitely wouldn't want or expect anything more from him than a good fuck while you're getting fucked by Will."

Kay's face turned a deep shade of red. "Well, that's putting it bluntly."

Kay smiled. "My fantasies definitely don't take me that far."

Tyler's eyes narrowed. "Mine do and I'd like to make them a reality," she stated bluntly.

"You're joking aren't you?" Kay's jaw dropped. "You'd sleep with another man?"

She studied the shocked look on her friend's face and flashed her a bright smile. "No. I'm not kidding, I'm serious."

Kay picked up her coffee cup and held it between her palms. "Come on, you're teasing, right?"

"No, I'm deadly serious." She sighed deeply. "Sometimes it's good for a marriage."

Kay's eyes narrowed. "It's cheating plain and simple. How can that be good for a marriage?" She gazed uncomfortably at Tyler. "You of all people, Tee, I would never imagine as a cheater. You and Will have such a rock solid loving relationship."

She tossed her head. "No, it's not cheating if your spouse is a part of it. And Will and I do have a strong committed relationship. I could never imagine being apart from Will. He's the love of my life."

"Then you mean wife swapping?" she choked. "Or swinging? Whatever it's called."

Charles smiled smugly as he placed Sage's file in a desk drawer, then locked it. He liked her. She was young and innocent and her naivety amazed him. He'd thought it would have taken much more convincing to get her to accept the position. She was perfect.

He walked over to the window. He loved looking down at the city, above all at night. It made him feel less alone. He'd fallen in love with Buffalo long before he'd made it his home and soon became an avid football fan, rarely missing a Bills game. His face suddenly darkened. He had it all: power, wealth, intelligence, but not the love of the only woman he'd ever wanted. He'd had her once and he was determined to have her again.

He was even more gorgeous in the flickering candlelight. It took all of her willpower not to leap over the table and throw herself at him. Her heart beat erratically as she imagined his hands gliding over her naked flesh and teasing her nipples until she thought she would explode.

"Are you okay?"

She felt the wetness between her legs. Her face reddened. "I'm…I'm fine." She hoped he couldn't see her flushed face in the flickering candlelight. From the expression on his face she knew he had. She picked up her spoon with a trembling hand and continued eating.

New Excerpt Wednesday - Deadly Tales - The Ducks

He watched Sally's webbed feet as she waddled towards him, squawking as her eyes beheld the customary feast in his hands. He laughed as she drew closer. "Look what I have for you, Sally."

She grabbed the bread from his hand. The other ducks stood behind her until she'd had her fill, then watched as she stepped aside. They hungrily devoured the remains of the bread she'd left for them.

For the past six months Joe had pondered this strange behavior, but could come up with no logical explanation. It didn't make sense. He pored over books in the library and traveled to several duck ponds, but none of those ducks acted like Sally did. She was the ultimate leader. Joe watched carefully as her followers finished eating, then looked at her. They didn't move. They never did until she gave the signal…a slight nod of her head. Sally eyed him cautiously, then tilted her head, and led the group back to the other side of the pond.

New Excerpt Wednesday - Deadly Tales - The Ticket

Aside from his obvious joy of making his employees' lives miserable, Harry Ranko had one other passion—playing the lottery. He was constantly waiting for the big one and had grandiose plans for his winnings, which he didn't hesitate to share with Rosie. The money he threw away weekly on the lottery would have supported Rosie and Bart for a month. Ranko was already a wealthy man and he made sure everyone he met knew it. He had no sympathy for those less fortunate-the more money he made, the more he wanted, and the less he wanted to part with.

Every Thursday Harry Ranko called Rosie into his office to check the numbers on his tickets. Why he trusted her with this task he'd never said and she'd never asked, but would dutifully enter his office after the others had left for the day. His small beady eyes widened with glee when he learned he had a winner no matter how small the payoff. It was his obsession.

New Excerpt Wednesday – Torrid Teasers 53 – The Fix-It Man

"I'd love a cup, but aren't you forgetting about your bath?"

She laughed. "I can take it later. Let me throw some clothes on." She ran into her bedroom and hurriedly threw on a pair of jeans and a pullover then returned to the kitchen. Nathan was leaning against the counter. "Have a seat," she said as she prepared the coffee. She tried to focus on what she was doing instead of his rippling biceps. She wanted him and she would seduce him if she had to, even if she wasn't primed in the art of seduction. She wondered what Lucy would do in this situation. Of course, Lucy would let him know in no uncertain terms that she wanted him. What about afterwards? Could she just walk away without any expectations like Lucy did, or would she want something more? No, she'd listened to Lucy talk about not making it personal. That's what she would do. She'd fuck him and then they would go their separate ways with no obligation to one another.
